Dow Supply-Chain Exposure to Japan ::
March 16, 2011
Revere Data’s CEO Kevin O’Brien examines which Dow components have the greatest exposure to Japan on CNBC’s “Talking Numbers” on March 16, 2011. Using Revere GeoRev™, our analysts identified seven Dow companies which have a material percentage of their revenues exposed to Japan. In addition, Revere identified 57 supplier companies to the seven Dow companies with a market cap greater than $1 billion, of which 40 of them also have reported direct revenue exposure to Japan. These include suppliers to Cisco, Intel, IBM, Merck, and Boeing.
To better manage portfolio risk, investors need to know both geographic revenue exposure and supply-chain connections of their equity holdings. They should ask themselves:
- What is the health of the supply-chain for companies in my portfolio?
- From where do the customers of my portfolio companies derived their revenues?
Through this dual visibility, investors can more confidently navigate market volatility and improve returns.
